Someone with the yahoo address nlolewis@yahoo.com just scammed us out of $275-false ebay ad-can we do anything

We sent the $ Western Union and the person N.Lewis picked it up and then we find out that it was a scam and it wasn't a second chance offer. He even sent a memo that looked like it was from ebay explaining that this person was having problems with their paypal account and that a Western Union money transfer would still guarantee the shipment. It was stupid because even Ebay tells you not to send money Western Union - but it looked legitimate and we were suckered by a too-good to-be true deal on a X-box 360. Is there any way to track this person down or report them? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

If so what did you do? Thanks.Someone with the yahoo address nlolewis@yahoo.com just scammed us out of $275-false ebay ad-can we do anything
File a police report to track the payment and who cashes it, tell ebay what happened, next time read all the warnings ebay gives you about paying, these scams happen all to often, especially around the holidays...Someone with the yahoo address nlolewis@yahoo.com just scammed us out of $275-false ebay ad-can we do anything
Ok, you got scammed. Sorry to hear about that.

You will probably not be able to track the person down from the email address. It is even possible that the email address was hijacked and that the person who uses it is not even responsible for what happened.

Western Union should have some sort of ID procedure for when people pick up money. If they don't then they should. They should get a copy of ID and fingerprint whoever picks up the money. Do it like pawnshops do.

In the end you will probably still be out $275. However, you are walking away with something. A bit of knowledge of how to avoid this next time.

Good judgment comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment.
If it was done through ebay then you should e-mail them immediately and they may be able to track down the seller. It's possible that they may be able to take the seller to court and fine them quite easily.
notify ebay again and call local police
One born every minute.
there is an ebay complaint form- got to contact us on ebay- if you use paypal- they also have a form you can fill out for that- they will try to get your money back- also if you used your credit card on the pay pal you can stop payment throught the credit card- call your cc comapny and let them know what happened.
tell eBay.
contact eBay see if there is anything they can do also contact the police they have their own policing of such things they more likely to be of more help if not you can get an independent person to do a check on were exactly were that e mail came from
Once you heard ';Western Union';, you should have ran the other way. About the only recourse you have now is to report him to ebay. You're not going to get your money back, but at least he can't scam anyone with that account again.
unfortunitly there really isnt anything you can do.. thats why they have those warnings posted to NEVER use western union..
yeah if you send me 275 bucks ill tell you how
i feel bad for you,, you should never send any money to anyone epecially in the UK they are all con artist. i don't think you could do anything about it. learn from your mistake..
Seems like you got a whole bunch of answers telling you to report it to eBay but not how. The address is spoof@eBay.com. If you go to the ebay site and do a search for spoof and/or scam you will get further directions. Contact Western Union and see if they will assist in any way. Contact the police in the city that it was picked up in. They may have gotten other reports and may be of some assistance.
Contact E-bay immediately so that can look into it.
Tell Ebay about it. They're scamming people using their company's name.

As of you, probably, the police will be the best chance you have to track them down.

Good luck!
what a c*nt!!!!

thats why u should never send money to someone you dont know thru western union, ( take it u didnt know that! )

theres nothing u can do im afraid :-(
Notify eBay. If you used Pay Pal you would have been covered.
shoot him and feed him to the gators
thats sucks

report them

call the cops

my friend scammed a playmate before out of almost a grand

the cops where at her door days later
(1) Contact the police - tell them you don't want your money back - but you want to prevent this fraudster from cheating other people (2) Contact EBay, tell them the same story (3) Ask the cops to contact Western Union on your behalf (else Western Union wont give a rats **** about your complaint) (4) Contact Yahoo , as k them to help trace the user - but pls do not ask Yahoo to shut his account as he will soon open another yahoo account (5) Try to re-establish contact with this person and pretend that you actually believe the X-Box is still in shipment, also pretend that you wish to buy something else from him , do not lose contact with him - if he is greedy he may make a mistake of giving you a phone number or fax number or some bank account number - then you can nail him, with the help of the cops.
You must be a nobjocky to fall for a scam like that! derrr!
thats just to bad
All you can do is talk to Ebay about it. If it seems too good to be true, don't fool for it.
