Is it just me or is it kind of self-centered if a person IMs you and addresses the false tragedy of their life

How fast a relationship is going to end depends on...: hey

Lestat: yo

How fast a relationship is going to end depends on...: wassup?

Lestat: nm

How fast a relationship is going to end depends on...: ....lucky u. lucky *** u

Lestat: ..

How fast a relationship is going to end depends on...: sorry...but my life has been so ****** up lately

This is what message my friend sends me.

She in my opinion is self-centered.She depends on drama in here life to the point where she makes up things and she will often address her life as horrible. Some tragic event such as her ';sister'; dieing will happen yet when i talk to her over the phone she is perfectly alive and enjoying her time with her friends. This egotistic ignorant lies have driven me made.I cannot stand this person why would you address your problems in the way people such as her do (refer to my quote of our brief conversation i have had much worse conversations but not saved). She asks me how i am doing then she tries to seem pitiful. LestatIs it just me or is it kind of self-centered if a person IMs you and addresses the false tragedy of their life
Obviously, she wants and needs to be the center of attention.

And, obviously, she's hooked you...if she can intrude at will and it's driving you mad (sic, made). This is NOT a value judgment against you. Somehow she gets the message that she can intrude; and you have not been able to tactfully and lovingly cut her off.

I hope you figure out a way to do that.

    Definitely true.

Someone with the yahoo address nlolewis@yahoo.com just scammed us out of $275-false ebay ad-can we do anything

We sent the $ Western Union and the person N.Lewis picked it up and then we find out that it was a scam and it wasn't a second chance offer. He even sent a memo that looked like it was from ebay explaining that this person was having problems with their paypal account and that a Western Union money transfer would still guarantee the shipment. It was stupid because even Ebay tells you not to send money Western Union - but it looked legitimate and we were suckered by a too-good to-be true deal on a X-box 360. Is there any way to track this person down or report them? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

If so what did you do? Thanks.Someone with the yahoo address nlolewis@yahoo.com just scammed us out of $275-false ebay ad-can we do anything
File a police report to track the payment and who cashes it, tell ebay what happened, next time read all the warnings ebay gives you about paying, these scams happen all to often, especially around the holidays...Someone with the yahoo address nlolewis@yahoo.com just scammed us out of $275-false ebay ad-can we do anything
Ok, you got scammed. Sorry to hear about that.

You will probably not be able to track the person down from the email address. It is even possible that the email address was hijacked and that the person who uses it is not even responsible for what happened.

Western Union should have some sort of ID procedure for when people pick up money. If they don't then they should. They should get a copy of ID and fingerprint whoever picks up the money. Do it like pawnshops do.

In the end you will probably still be out $275. However, you are walking away with something. A bit of knowledge of how to avoid this next time.

Good judgment comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment.
If it was done through ebay then you should e-mail them immediately and they may be able to track down the seller. It's possible that they may be able to take the seller to court and fine them quite easily.
notify ebay again and call local police
    One born every minute.
there is an ebay complaint form- got to contact us on ebay- if you use paypal- they also have a form you can fill out for that- they will try to get your money back- also if you used your credit card on the pay pal you can stop payment throught the credit card- call your cc comapny and let them know what happened.
    tell eBay.
contact eBay see if there is anything they can do also contact the police they have their own policing of such things they more likely to be of more help if not you can get an independent person to do a check on were exactly were that e mail came from
Once you heard ';Western Union';, you should have ran the other way. About the only recourse you have now is to report him to ebay. You're not going to get your money back, but at least he can't scam anyone with that account again.
unfortunitly there really isnt anything you can do.. thats why they have those warnings posted to NEVER use western union..
yeah if you send me 275 bucks ill tell you how
i feel bad for you,, you should never send any money to anyone epecially in the UK they are all con artist. i don't think you could do anything about it. learn from your mistake..
Seems like you got a whole bunch of answers telling you to report it to eBay but not how. The address is spoof@eBay.com. If you go to the ebay site and do a search for spoof and/or scam you will get further directions. Contact Western Union and see if they will assist in any way. Contact the police in the city that it was picked up in. They may have gotten other reports and may be of some assistance.
Contact E-bay immediately so that can look into it.
Tell Ebay about it. They're scamming people using their company's name.

As of you, probably, the police will be the best chance you have to track them down.

    Good luck!
    what a c*nt!!!!

thats why u should never send money to someone you dont know thru western union, ( take it u didnt know that! )

theres nothing u can do im afraid :-(
Notify eBay. If you used Pay Pal you would have been covered.
shoot him and feed him to the gators
    thats sucks

    report them

    call the cops

my friend scammed a playmate before out of almost a grand

the cops where at her door days later
    (1) Contact the police - tell them you don't want your money back - but you want to prevent this fraudster from cheating other people (2) Contact EBay, tell them the same story (3) Ask the cops to contact Western Union on your behalf (else Western Union wont give a rats **** about your complaint) (4) Contact Yahoo , as k them to help trace the user - but pls do not ask Yahoo to shut his account as he will soon open another yahoo account (5) Try to re-establish contact with this person and pretend that you actually believe the X-Box is still in shipment, also pretend that you wish to buy something else from him , do not lose contact with him - if he is greedy he may make a mistake of giving you a phone number or fax number or some bank account number - then you can nail him, with the help of the cops.
You must be a nobjocky to fall for a scam like that! derrr!
    thats just to bad
All you can do is talk to Ebay about it. If it seems too good to be true, don't fool for it.

Https:// some one told me that they were false addresses can some one enlighten me please?

You MAY notice at the bottom right corner of your browser a little lock that is closed, that means you are in a 'secure' session http(secure)s:// it is good....Https:// some one told me that they were false addresses can some one enlighten me please?
It could be a fake address is you receive an email that is from the Security Department of a bank and asks you to enter a website where it asks for your password details.

Most of the time though it is a Secure layer that offers greater security where personal information is entered such as a credit card transaction.Https:// some one told me that they were false addresses can some one enlighten me please?
It means the connection between you and the site is secure, but that's not to say the site should be trusted.

Many sites set up https versions of their site so people instinctly trust them. Just remember secure doesn't mean trusted.
https:// = secure http. It just uses a different port, and encryption. It's not a false address.
http:// are secure. and it is not false.

What is prozy enabled/ false bypassproxy for local addresses false?

    SO...

    you're asking:

What is proxy enabled (its currently false)?

what is by pass proxy for local addresses (and its currently false)?

Proxy refers to a machine that all of your HTTP traffic goes through (So if that was pointing to a machine and enabled, when you requested AOL.com it would ask your proxy server for AOL.com and your proxy server would send you the response [Rather then talking directly to aol.com).

Bypass proxy would do exactly that, when you access a machine in your local network, it would not talk to the proxy machine to get requests from the local machine.

They should both be disabled/false unless you have a really odd setup

False pretenses to get someones name, address, phone number, etc?

Is it against the law to email someone pretending to be someone else? Also with this ';false identity'; is it illegal if this someone pretends they are interested in buying something from you in order to gain your personal information like Name, Address, Phone Number, Etc?

What Legal Actions Can Be Taken?

ThanksFalse pretenses to get someones name, address, phone number, etc?
being cautious and skeptic is your best defense when dealing with scams

    1. Never acknowledge emails suggesting offers of like free stuff, educationla '; university'; specials

    2. Unless your email is linked to you Online banking, NEVER give out you social security number, name, home address and any other personal information to spam emails posting as a financial institutions

    3. A trick i use is that I never use my personal email for my online shopping.

When i do my inline shopping, i have a secndary email that I use and I monitor the online stores i shop. I also verify stores I am not familar with before shopping by googling thier information online if they are similar to fraud and scams

    4. If you get some email rhat sounds too good to be true, then it probably is a scam or a virus trying to get a hold of you. Delete and ignore

    5. Google your own name every now and then to see if anyone is impersonating you. Im lucky i have a unique name so its easy for me to find any one impersonating me

    6. You got a wierd missed call from some one claiming to be a creditor from a bank ( and some are legit)

remember that they should not be asking for your social security number

if they ask for a payment even if it sonds legit, just say that you prefer paying through the bank either by personally or by online banking. They will say there will be some sort of a late fee just say you dont mind ( better late fee than all your savings stolen)

Also google the telephone number, chances are they are a scamFalse pretenses to get someones name, address, phone number, etc?
It is ';false pretences'; but unless the intent was to use the information for illegal purposes (identity theft) then the only charge might be some kind of invasion of privacy in civil court.

Thankx and will appreciate a response from any one ASAP.Why my outgoing email adds ';FALSE'; and then email address?
Okay, I had the same problem and I figured it out. Go into your ';Options'; and select ';Mail Options';. I'll bet that in your ';From name'; field, it says ';false';. Just change it to your name and all should be well again.

How can i remove myself from a false spam mailing address?

Some spam will allow you to respond with 'remove me from your list' or something.

On the other hand, responding to a spam lets them know that you are there - and they might ignore your request, and actually double their efforts to fill your inbox with garbage.

Most of the time I will try contacting their sysadmin or the service they get their mail through. Look at what it says after the @ in their e-mail address. Try sending to sysadmin@blahblahblah.whatver, or 'administrator', etc.

Worst case you can try to contact their e-mail provider directly, and report the abuse. Unfortunately some won't have anyone to report it to. If that is the case, then e-mail them back with 'If you persist in sending e-mails to this address despite my repeated requests that you stop, I will be forced to report you to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for harrassment, and when they locate you, I can promise you I will bring legal action against you to the fullest extent of the law.'

When I bought the VISA gift card, I did not need to provide my address. Can you put a false billing address(NOT SHIPPING) for VISA gift cards?(REVISED)?
A gift card is not like a credit card, it's more like a debit card. They won't be sending you a bill, so I don't think they need any billing address. If it is unclear online how to order without billing address, call the store and have customer service assist you or take the order over the phone.

If you need to know this, then imo I would lay off the Cornish pastries and Chinese tea!

Otherwise it depends on the circumstances, such as:

    1. Did the top teeth fall out while talking with you? This would be the most appropriate time (DO NOT offer to pick them up, bad etiquette)

    2. Were they making clucking or tapping noises? Doesn't matter, I would refrain from saying anything.

    3. Were you visiting %26amp; saw a pair in a glass in the bathroom? You might then check to see if there are any names imprinted on the teeth, this would save you the embaressment of asking.

    4. Personally, I would check the yellow pages, who would want their dentist anyway. Is it rude to ask someone you don't know well for the address of their false teeth dentist?
Mr. B, (if you don't mind), I am glad you like my structured answer, your point is clearly understood :) smile. I would like to sincerely thank you for the 5 stars %26amp; 10 points! Might I add in regards to the badge/bus, that you are a bit cheeky yourself, haha, have a good day!

Is it rude to ask someone you don't know well for the address of their false teeth dentist?
Ask about their dentists address but dont mention the false teeth
Yes, it's rude. And, if the dentist was any good, you shouldn't be able to tell that they have false teeth.
    Depends how you ask them
I would not ask. I would remain a toothless wonder!

    Charles ';That Toothy, Cheeky Lad';
    DUHH WHAT ARE RETARTED YES!!

if you had fake teeth and sombodty asked you that what would you think?!!!!
Yes, I would find it very offensive. But if I recognized false teeth, I'd probably not want to go to that dentist anyway.
Oh come on, use your head. Ignore what everyone else here is saying about ';depends how you ask'; and other sh*t like that - if you ask at all, even in the nicest way possible then you've just made it clear that YOU CAN TELL THEIR TEETH ARE FALSE! Why don't you ask a question on here instead about ';where can I get false teeth that don't look false';, that would be more constructive, plus it has the benefit that you don't make someone feel really bad about themselves or get punched in the face (thereby losing more teeth) yourself!
it kinda depends on if one wanted to offend them, or if one really wanted to get some one's self. =)
Just say you're looking for a new dentist and could they recommend anyone. You certainly don't need to make mention of the ';false teeth'; or any other personal issue about them. :)
Yeah i would say it was rude. It's not rude however if they have actually admitted to their false teeth. Then it's fine to ask, but make sure you compliment them on their teeth too.
Make sure their teeth are actually false and offer a compliment on how nice they look.

Why does my email address have the word false in front of it. people are afraid to read my emails?

So how can prevent or stop this type of emails reaching in my yahoo mail?Someone searching my email address and sending false emails to me every day.Mostly from U.K and afria.?
Usually just clicking on SPAM when you receive the message will direct it to your SPAM FOLDER and any subsequesnt emails from this person will go there...if that doesn't work try below....

If you are using yahoo classic OR all new mail.....

Go to ';Options'; It is above your email

    Click on ';Mail Options';

    Click on SPAM

Enter the address you want to block

    Click on “Add Block”

On occasion the sender changes their name BEFORE @ so block that DOMAIN the following way...

If you are receiving several emails from the same domain, but various ID's, the easiest way to stop them is to enter the domain into your ';Blocked Addresses';.

In Yahoo! mail, to block the senders domain (hotmail.com):

◘ Click on ';Options, upper right corner of mail page';.

    ◘ Then ';Mail Options';.

◘ Click on ';Spam'; from the list on the left.

◘ In the ';Add a blocked address'; box, enter the domain (only the part of the email address AFTER @, do not include @). Note: I have recently seen where you should have the @ included...try them both.

    ◘ Click the ';Add'; button.

Now, any email from that domain, no matter what ID is used to send it, will be blocked.

FINALLY...do not forget to click on SAVE CHANGES at the top of the page....

You can't. Unless these messages contain a specific threat to you, the police won't get involved. The messages are more than likely spam and are going to thousands, if not millions of people, in a few quick keystrokes.

Just delete them. Don't open them under any circumstances. When you mark a message that gets through to your inbox as spam, that email address is automatically added to the list of addresses that can no longer send mail to your inbox. At the same time, that message and address are reported to yahoo so they can continue to work on this extremely difficult problem. It can still get to your junk mail though. Unfortunately, these people have hundreds, if not thousands of email accounts, and they use different addresses all the time, so you will continue to receive them.

One thing I have found is that since I've been very careful about where I browse on the internet, and to what websites I provide my email address, my junk mail has decreased to less than one per day.

This will be a really long answer....

I would first check the ';Account Info...'; and see if there has been a secondary email address added-not yours - if there is - delete it and replace it with one of yours (you may have to shut down your computer for it to ';take';) - if there isn't one- create one.

Check your ';Sent'; folder, especially the last few items, and the same with your ';History'; Look at your desktop to see if there are any new ';icons'; (little pix), that you did not add -if so, drag them to the Trash.

Beef up your security - that includes creating a new, stronger password, with upper and lower case letters and a few numbers (a great one is the first letters of your favorite poem or song) Never allow pop-up windows, do not do the ';Remember Me'; or ';Auto-Complete';, allow cookies only from sites you have visited. Set History to 3 days maximum.

    Now do a clean-up

    ';Delete Cookies';, ';Empty Cache';, and in History - ';Clear';

Shut down computer. Wait 30 seconds. Start ( not Restart - it is different)

    Sign in anew

Hopefully, the problem was a one time thing and all of these steps will make it more difficult.

A few things to remember. Always email via BCC, do not remain signed in for long periods. Shut down your computer when not used for long periods. Do not use a wireless router. Do not share your password with anyone.

    Good luck

A fake ID is a fake ID; the law sees them as equally offensive, and will get you equal time and fines.Which of the two is the worst Using a fake ID with your name and address and false age or using somelses ID??
As far as criminal behavior goes, you could end up eat a crap sandwich either way.

Is it illegal to give a Doctor/Others a False Address?

My ex (from 5 years ago), has really really bad credit. He NEVER lived with me, but while together he filled out alot of forms with MY address. After we broke up (he was abusive amoung other things). I had bill collectors calling me asking for him for months. It took me half a year to get them to stop calling and thats when I gave them his parents information.

Every so often I still get calls from bill collecters, but today I got a call from an Eye Doctor saying he did NOT pay his bill. Now I know for a FACT that he did not see an eye doctor while we were together, and the reciptionest said it was a recent appointment.

Five years later hes still giving out my address and phone number for when he doesnt plan on paying.

Am I able to do anything about this? I dont plan to sue him or even think he will get arrested... but I want to do something about this. It took me two years get his crap off MY credit score. I dont want to go through that again.

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you. Is it illegal to give a Doctor/Others a False Address?
While your ex could probably be charged with a ';theft of services'; type of crime. They are usually handled by a civil court through a lawsuit. This really won't help you.

In your case, it is probably time to change your telephone number and contact the credit reporting agencies to flag an improper use of your address. If you change your phone number be sure to get an unlisted and unpublished number so he can't find the new number. It beats the alternative of moving. Is it illegal to give a Doctor/Others a False Address?

I receive lots of comments on my answers and would like to follow up, but can't because the email address is fake? What gives?Don't you just abhor those people who give a false email address to Yahoo ?
It isn't fake, the idiots have not verified the email address, so it will not go through. I am so over writing back, spending much time and thought, only to have the message, 'cannot send...email address unverified. '; Very frustrating.Don't you just abhor those people who give a false email address to Yahoo ?
it's for their protection. They probably don't want people harassing them or sending them obscene messages. I can understand why it's frustrating at times because if they have a good answer or you want to ask them for more advice on a topic you can't follow it up because they give you a false email. But you also have to empathize with them because it's ignorant, obscene people who don't know how to act that make them not want to reveal or give out their emails...

True or False: Dial-up users get a new IP address everytime they disconnect and dial back in?

I have heard this is true. High-speed users constantly stay connected to the Internet, while dial-up users get a new address each time, allowing for more security.True or False: Dial-up users get a new IP address everytime they disconnect and dial back in?
Some dial up users get what is called a Static Ip Address which means that it does not change, while for the most part dial up usually uses DHCP, But usually if a malicious software has managed to obtain your IP address once, chances are that the malicious software contains a Client that connects to a server at a Static ip address, and sends the information of your new IP address to the Malicious Server... thats a security viewpoint from the software aspect, as far as from the human aspect, yes it is a little bit more secure, from a different standpoint, people can know your ipaddress all day long, unless they have a malicious software installed on your computer or you have remote assistance/remote desktop enabled, they arent getting into your computer.True or False: Dial-up users get a new IP address everytime they disconnect and dial back in?
    ip.. yes security... no
it doesn't allow for more security, thats just noob talk, but yes the ip address will be different each time
dial-up users get a new number dialed evertime so it might change or u might get the same number it all depends on how many ppl r on and what numbers are available.
no its not true the only way you can get a different IP address is to have an IP changer that program forces your IP to change but when you get your internet service hooked up you are assigned an IP address kinds like when you get your phone hooked up they give you a number so people know that number is yours its the same with an IP address they know its yours...you get it
    False.
false. dial up users get a new IP every few seconds. as for highspeed, our IP actually changes too suprisngly but at a much much slower rate. in addition to this our subnet mask etc keep us safe from hackers. the onyl Ip that never refreshes so to speak are like schools and businesses with special connections that cant change. these have masks to prevent hacking.
Yes and no. DHCP by default starts by trying to use the last IP address it was assigned for an adapter. With dial up, the chances of this happening are pretty unlikely. With high speed internet (cable, dsl) your chances of getting the same IP back are a lot higher due to systems not requesting new IP addresses as often. Either way, if you're relying on your IP address to change as your primary security method, I'd strongly suggest reconsidering. At a bare minimum, I'd make sure I have a software firewall (Windows XP includes one for free with Service Pack 2) enabled. A home router acts as a firewall by default as well and is probably worth the money, even if you've only got a single PC from a security standpoint.
Fasle, because dial up users get new adresses every time they reboot the computer, not every time they dial in.

My sons father gave a false address for me and gained custody? Its been 2 years, how do I get him back?

I was kicked out of my parents house for exotic dancing. Having no stable place to go I left my son with my parents until I could get back on my feet. I stayed in contact with my parents, son, and my son's father. All knew of my whereabouts. Three moths later my son's father showed up at my new apartment demanding he take my son now that he had gain full custody. He gave them a bogus address and therefore I never showed up. When I called the court house they not only informed me of the $400 a week child support but told me theres nothing I could do because u cant prove the judge wrong and i would have to file to get him back. But first I would have to have a stable place to live for at least 6 months. Being I just moved in to my apartment I couldnt do that. The child support racked up especially with me not dancing anymore. Now 2 years later I have been in my new house for a year and have racked up some back support. My sons father never allows me to see my son. what can I do?My sons father gave a false address for me and gained custody? Its been 2 years, how do I get him back?

    Get a lawyer
Do unto others as they have done to you.
    Get a lawyer.
There is a big chunk of this story missing...
    1. sorry to say this, i cant help u.
    one step at a time.

I'd reccomend appeasing the father but don't go to far with that. If he is unwilling to be reasonable then you'll have to do it legally. File for partial custody. If you've been stable for awhile six months or more I don't see why the judge wouldn't order your ex to allow you some visitation.

In any case it'll be hard to get him back but if your tenacious enough you'll have more than what you do. Hope this helps.

    good luck.
Only a lawyer and money can help you with this crazy situation ! ....u obviously have money for a computer and internet connection ....so get moving ....that's if you really love your son !

marriage certificate should have it. mine does. tax forms. paycheck stubs....to be perfectly honest if the CSS and your lawyer have the number....then there isn't much else you can do about it. it's gonna take some time. but do keep in mind that if he doesn't respond or cannot make himself found, the highest amount will be applied which can be almost $800.00 per month and is countable from the point of filing. once he isn't paying.....it will accrue. then they will suspend his license. and take his income tax, and garnish his wages. they will find him. they always do.If my lawyer didn't give me my exes ss# and he gave us a false address, how can i find him?
Find old tax papers, it should have the number on it.

If he is under child support enforcement, they will find him eventually, they always do
You might want to look into hiring a private investigator. Why isn't your lawyer giving you the information you requested...he's representing you, not your ex? Your lawyer sounds shady.
Consider hiring a skip tracer or private investigator (check your local phone book). They have access to all kinds of database mining web sites that would probably be cost-prohibitive for you to join yourself. Your lawyer may even be able to refer you to one he/she recommends. Hope this helps.
The most efficient way to get someone's address it to tell that person that you have money for them. If you don't have the ex's phone #, call someone from the ex's family and w/o telling them who you really are, inform them that your ex has money due him and it's your job to see that he gets it. Ask for an address.

If they ask where the money is coming from or how much, tell them sorry but that is personal info that you are not allowed to reveal.

    False address for school?

Can a parent get in trouble for using a different address then the one they actually reside in to get their child into a certain school? If it helps were in Orange County, Ca. Fake address is in Stanton, Ca actual address is in Anaheim, Ca school is in Stanton as well.False address for school?
From my personal experiences, most people don't get caught. I have people using my address so that they can go to a better school in NYC. If the school ever mails me something, I just send it to the other family.

What is fine for using false address to enroll child /?

Where are you? There are at least 50 different answers in the US alone. Yahoo doesn't provide any clue what country your question applies to.What is fine for using false address to enroll child /?
Your child will be removed from the school and forced to attend his home school and you will be charged with fraud and/or perjury, the penalties for which vary from state to state.
Instead of breaking the law, and paying a fine for the penalty... Just pay the tuition for the school you want them to go to!

Using false address to register for school? Illegal...?

I moved in my apartment in 2005, and the lady who lived here told me to keep her mail for a while. So I kept her mail to be nice, and it got really annoying when all of sudden my mail box is filled with junk for 6 people, who no longer live here. I started to forward her mail, and she got angry. She wanted to use my address to enroll her daughter to another school, outside the boundary. She came here to insult me and started to call me names. She went crazy! I reported her to the school district and told them she was harrasing me about it. I just didn't wanna be part of all that because I know using a false address is wrong. What's gonna happen to her now? Am I in trouble?Using false address to register for school? Illegal...?
No you would no be in trouble, the people using your address would be in trouble. If you want to get rid of the excess mail write on the envelope or what ever it is ';Does Not Live Here'; and ';Return to Sender'; The post office will stop bringing anyone's mail that does not live there to you. You could also go down to the post office and have them put a stop on all mail that does not have your name on it. Also talk to the mailman and have him/her tape a list of all people living in your apartment. As for the lady, I'd tell her to get a personal mail box or a post office box. If she continues to harrass you, file harassment charges against her and put a restraining order on her. You shouldn't have to worry about harrassment in your own apartment.Using false address to register for school? Illegal...?
You're not in trouble. You did the right thing. She is trying to commit fraud, and trying to make you an accomplice.

She probably won't get in trouble either, but her kids will have to go to the school in their district.
    i dunno
All that will happen is the school will disenroll her daughter and now some woman is mad at you. In HS a friend of mine used her moms address when she lived with her dad to stay in the same school when she moved in with him. Her mom reported it and she just had to switch schools.

No one would ever bother to criminally charge for fraud on something like this unless there was something more to it and you would not be blamed for anything for forwarding her mail.

When I send an email it is received with the word false before my email address. Why? and how can it be chang?

.When I send an email it is received with the word false before my email address. Why? and how can it be chang?
It is because you have not put in a name in the FROM NAME box. Below will tell you how to check it and put in what you want.

You can change the FROM name by doing the following..

In MAIL CLASSIC....click on OPTIONS...MAIL OPTIONS...scroll down to FROM NAME and change it to what you want. Go above and click on SAVE CHANGES. Note: If you leave the FROM NAME blank you will end up seeing this when you compose or forward an email.....FALSE followed by your email address.NOTE: for some reason this does not always work on Mail Classic. If it doesn't follow the steps as described in All New Mail..

In ALL NEW MAIL....click on OPTIONS....MAIL OPTIONS...go to the left side of the screen and click on ACCOUNTS...Once in click on ADD OR EDIT AN ACCOUNT...then click on EDIT...scroll down to FROM NAME and change it to what you want....Then go above and click on SAVE...Note: If you leave the FROM NAME blank you will see Yahoo Mail followed by your full name and your email address when composing or forwarding an email.

Report it as abuse. Check the box that says you think the question is illegal. Explain in the abuse report that the person is disclosing your personal information and slandering you. Tell her if she keeps it up you will sue her for slander and report her to the police. If she keeps doing it, follow through. This behavior is illegal.

Sounds like you picked up a virus.

Immediately have your computer checked for a 'bug' or 'bugs.'

Once it is clean of pests, install a firewall and an anti-virus program if you do not have one yet.

I strongly recommend a program for malware and adware also.

After you finish this, then go in and change your password, using a good strong one.

I'll watch it, like i do every year.

I like to count the lies, but also his missteps in speech. That count will go higher than he can count himself. How many of you will watch the SOTU address just to count how many false statements Bush makes?
It's like being afraid to actually look and listen and holding your breath that he won't embarrass himself and us.
Not me. That was fun the first couple of years, but after a while it gets old. I do still enjoy listening to Rush to see how many times in an hour he can lie. That never gets old.
    what a patriot
I hope he talks about renewable energy, like he has the last four SOTU's....Still waiting on that one, George.
I think I'll do a shot for every lie he tells. Bottoms up!!

I'm going to pass on the STU. Thanks to the NIE report, Bush won't be able to accuse Iran of having a smoking gun in the form of a mushroom cloud.
You mean the statements you disagree with? Because I promise you, you know far less about the issues than the president does. And yet I bet you think HE is an idiot. During the state of the union you won't know whether his statements are correct or wrong. In fact no one will until the truth reveals itself through hindsight. (You guys have a real habit of viewing the world through your 'hind'.) But I can assure you, none will be knowingly false. None have yet to be.
Do those things count that high? I had no idea!
I'll only watch it if I have trouble sleeping.
I dont watch or listen to Bush anymore and my head aches have gone away!!

Dr. S: “zero. bush is the man. by sending off a bunch of high school dropouts to iraq (sic),”

Wasn’t it Abe Lincoln who said; “it is better to be believed a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt”? The military has a higher ratio of High School Grads than the general population. Your insinuation that the military personnel are less educated insults me as a veteran and the armed forces in general. Career members these days, even those in the NCO Ranks must have college degrees to advance to the higher levels.

You obviously need to take a trip to the clue store and purchase one or two.

Strabch: “idiot Bush supporters are as dumb as he is”

Obviously the captain of your High School debate team. I’d be willing to bet that the “idiot” Bush knows that you start a sentence with a capital letter. (BTW, I’m not actually a Bush supporter, but I did notice that he kicked the **** of the Dems for 3 elections out of four. So if an “idiot” kicks your butt what does that make you?)

JLB: “I know he is up to 935 before it, did he clear 1000 yet?”

So how is Soros these days? Some people wouldn’t know a dead tuna if you slapped them in the face with the cold dead body. Please learn to read something other than Move on.

    Typical close minded LIBERAL

I thought his speech was GREAT
none.did you watch the speech or are you simply talking out of your a s s ?
How sad, you don't even know your correct Kos talking points.

If you did your homework, you'd know that the 935 number was the number of times that members of the Bush administration supposedly lied about Iraq over the years, which includes repeating the same ones. That's what the recently reprinted story alleges. (BTW, it's a bald-faced lie that Bush told lies.)

So, your attempt to play cutesie with the leftist echo-chamber on here just exposes your inability to grasp even simple facts.

    Ha ha ha ha ha!
Hes sugar coating the real situation of the economy.

Though I would say regarding him wanting to cut pet projects is applaudable, I would not be surprised if he used this instead as a tool to slander/swiftboat the democrats more (election time), while sheltering/exempting his buddies/republicans base.

EDIT: 935 false statements are bush %26amp; his administration lies towards the Iraq war, nothing to do with his State of the Union speech.
zero. bush is the man. by sending off a bunch of high school dropouts to iraq, he is making sure the college graduates working for defense contractors are getting a paycheck. a big one! who cares about the dropouts that failed the public education system (that they didn't even pay for).

Someone is using a false email address of my company. How to stop them?

Someone is using inexistent email address of my company to send spams. And I know that because I receive all ';email failure notice, spam warnings, etc'; in my admin email. How can I stop that? They came up with many different emails always like ';something@mycompany.com';. What should I do? Yahoo does nothing (of course)... Please help me!!! ThanksSomeone is using a false email address of my company. How to stop them?
You need to use the Sender Policy Framework (SPF). Basically, SPF is a way to control which mail servers are allowed to send mail using your domain.

You can read more about SPF here: http://www.openspf.org . It may seem complicated, especially if you're not familiar with DNS, but it's not too hard to set up.

Check with your email host to see if they support SPF (they should!). I use GoDaddy.com for my domain's email, and it was pretty easy for me to edit my own DNS records to setup up SPF. Once I did, the spam being sent on my domain's behalf stopped.

You may also want to put a note on your home page (if applicable) telling people that if they receive spam that appears to come from you, it isn't actually from you, and that you're doing something about it.Someone is using a false email address of my company. How to stop them?
you should close those un-used e-mail box such that no one can use them.

Ensure your servers and clients platform have internet security suite which can filter all incoming spam or junk mail.

You should file your complaint to http://www.ic3.gov/
Get a Email Spam protection program.

    Switch to Gmail

Create rules so that only the existing emails of your company are considered as legit, all other with your company name are spam.

That's all I can think of

    Good luck fighting it.

Also, This spam could be due to a trojan on someone's computer at your company.

Need to address some false information going around?

You do not have to be an American citizen to join the U.S. military. I've seen a lot of false information passed around here saying that you must be an American citizen. You must be a legal resident and have a green card to join. This is a fact. Yep. I keep seeing people answering with statements that you have to be an American Citizen to join.

If that were true then I wouldnt have served with many of the people I served with.

Joining the military as a non-citizen helps in the process of becoming a citizen though with the Military Naturalization (I have it downloaded to my computer)
I have only stressed that you need to be an American citizen to accept a commission as an officer from the President. That is true.
I am surprised that the military doesn't make this known. They are always trying to recruit, you think they would make it known.

Ask them to produce - Drivers Licence - Utility Bill - Passport - Bank Statement or a legit ID.

One way to identify them is to take a Polaroid (spell?) snap of them - some shops do that already.

    Check the phone book.

Yes, I know, all of these can be forged - but if they are serious about 'defrauding' you in some way, there's not a lot you can do.
Ask for proof of address or a current utility bill.
Proof of address alone is not enough, as someone could impersonate somebody else.

A better form would be photographic evidence with proof of address, e. g. a photo driving licence.

You could ask for several items for identification (originals only).

There is also the electoral register; you could check against that.

Another way could be to visit someone at home, but it would have to be used in conjunction with the above.

Unfortunately, although you can minimise the risk of a false address, there is no foolproof way; clever people intent on committing fraud could falsify documents and pretend to be someone else.

The steps you take depend on the reason for you asking the question and on how often you need to verify addresses.

Not illegal, but i would tell the postman that they do not live there. write across the mail ';not at this address';Is it illegal to give a false address?
Not in Ohio. I'm having the same problem. Only this chick went further...she gave my address AND phone number to all her creditors. I get calls from her college because she owes them money and I get calls from people wanting their student loans they gave her paid off and Cashland type places keep calling. I have no idea who this girl is and nobody I know knows her, either. I reported it to the police and the chief said it's not against the law but if I could find her, he would 'talk' to her. He looked her up in his system and can't even find anyone by that name in Ohio. I'm furious.

We've had our phone number for 11 years and our address has been this one for 6. The people who lived here before were elderly with grown children and they don't know her either. I've asked them. Bleh.
It depends on the circumstances. For example, if the person gives a false address and pays for a magazine subscription, there is no problem, but if he give a false address for voter registration or some other fraudulent purpose, that is a crime.
ask long as u know them and they pick up there mail and not leave it at your house.

On the Senator's website? Given that you'd have to break into the website to do it, yes, I'd say you could be arrested for it.

To put a fake address on your own website? Nope. You can say that he lives at the North Pole or even Mars. Anyone who'd claim to be misled by a private website is too stupid to warrant protection.

That's not to say that some idiot prosecutor couldn't try making trouble for you by charging some abuse of another law, but you'd pretty much have to roll over for him to convict you on it.

The court has set the judgement aside, because the claimant gave them a false address to win the case.?

The court has set the judgement aside, because the claimant gave them a false address, can I sue them for damaeges that the judgement did to me and which court should I go to.The court has set the judgement aside, because the claimant gave them a false address to win the case.?
You are not able to sue a Court (or Judge) for exercising a judicial function (setting the judgment aside). You cannot ';sue'; the Cliamant either over the false address. When a Court sets a judgment aside it usually just sets it aside and the claim proceeds as before.Sometimes if the other party has incurred unneccessary legal costs after the original adjustment the Court might order those costs to be paid to the ';innocent'; party but those costs will not cover inconvenience or distress. In any case if no order has already been made without an order for costs then it's too late .The court has set the judgement aside, because the claimant gave them a false address to win the case.?
If you mean ';Can I sue the court?';, the answer is No.

If you are asking if you can sue the other party, that depends upon the full text of the recent court decision. If the judgement has been set aside and a new hearing ordered, then all information, including any about false addresses, can be brought to the attention of the court, which will consider it as though the first decision had never been made.
You can make a counter claim against the claimant. This is done in your local County Court but this can be expensive. If the judgment has been set aside then it is no longer resgistered and you should check your credit file to have it cleared and make a complaint to the financial services authority.

There is ONE instance I am of where it would be illegal. I have been told some people place the intended delivery address where the return address would be and deliberately leave of the postage. Only if it is there to conceal the location of someone who committed a crime
no, you do not even have to put a return address on a letter.

Is it illegal to send a joke letter in the mail with a false return address?

I want to send a joke letter to someone asking them to fill out a survey. There is nothing threatening, not asking for money, no vulgarity and the survey will not even be included for them to send back. So really the letter serves no purpose except to be kind of annoying.

I'm wondering if it is illegal or not to put a fake return address with a fake name like Smith Research Institute. Is it considered some sort of fraud to be posing as a fake institute. Like I said, I wouldn't be asking for anything in response. Is it illegal to send a joke letter in the mail with a false return address?
Yes, it is illegal. It is a felony, commonly known as ';mail fraud';.Is it illegal to send a joke letter in the mail with a false return address?
not necessarilly mail fraud, but there are laws against deliberately annoying someone. I believe this was driven home by the history of annoy.com - you might want to check it out.

Yes, it can be pursued legally! Usually it is pursued as ';harassment';. But, if someone is really pissed off and wants to make it a federal case, they'll prosecute for mail fraud.

No, but kind of funny. It would only be a crime if you were trying to do it commit a crime. Have fun.
as long as you don't ask for any personal information I think you're alright.
Depends on the name you use any name that you use that is actually real that business could take offense but if you think up a corparate name and make sure it is not a real business then more power to you.

A friend of mine was mailed a bible from an anonymous person from a false address. What's up w this? ?

It came with another book, ';the Purpose Driven Life.'; It arrived in brown paper wrapping, and the address was written in what looked like left-handed writing from a right-handed person. There was an unsigned note with similar handwriting in it simply referring to the books as ';a gift to you'; (but addressing my friend by name). The false return address was in San Francisco, but the postmark was from Champaign, Ill. My friend lives nowhere near either place.A friend of mine was mailed a bible from an anonymous person from a false address. What's up w this? ?
He should be thankful that he received this. The person who sent it obviously wants to be remained anonymous.A friend of mine was mailed a bible from an anonymous person from a false address. What's up w this? ?
Maybe just maybe you friend should read that book it will not hurt her to read something if not just put it in the trash and forget about it don't make a big deal about it
Sounds like typical religion being forced upon your friend. Just ignore it, it's like the bully from school, they are just looking for a reaction. But your friend is better then that!
Apparently someone wanted to try to contaminate his mind with garbage, and didn't want anyone to know he was involved.
Accept the Gift and read the Bible but treat the accompanying text with caution.
He may as well have mailed him anthrax. Burn immediately.
I would say it was a prank.

Pray the Rosary and receive the Sacraments
How do I get on that mailing list. Bibles make great kindling.
Spooky.... Maybe it was... nah... couldn't have been...
sounds like someone thinks your friend needs to find salvation

    too bad we're all damned.

Can you legally send a letter with a false return address?

I want to send a letter to a family member but I would rather they didn't know my current address. Is it illegal to send a letter with an old address on it? If it is, can you send one with no return address on it, and have it actually delivered? Can you legally send a letter with a false return address?
you could ';accidently'; mess up the return address,

example: 123 elm street...becomes132 eml streetCan you legally send a letter with a false return address?
    Yes

You don't even have to put a return address on it!
I am a carrier, we do not look at that. just put your name. The only problem would be if you put the wrong address the letter would go straight to dead letter. You would never know if they got it or if it was destroyed. Just do not send anything of value!
Yes you can send it with no adress, I do that a lot, but if you put a false adress you can get into very big trouble because it could be an actual adress. So just leave it blank, your allowed to.
just don't put a return address on it. it's not illegal
I don't think its illegal, but if you don't want them to know your address, then don't put it on the letter. Very simple. LEave it off
It's legal... so is sending a letter with no return address at all.
you dont even need to put one on it, but you can lie, it just will be lost forever if you had their address wrong and the letter got sent back to you
Yes - you don't need to put your return address on there. It will still get sent. I recommend this option over putting a fake address on the letter - that way, you haven't really done anything ';wrong'; or immoral.
Just put your name on it...no need for an address if you do not want to give it!!
Why don't you just leave it off all together. You may want to mail it from another city so they can't track you by the stamp.
You can always send a letter with only the mailing address on it. Nothing else is required.
Get a post office box address and use that. I did you are wanting to do, but my mail person knew which address it came from and sent it back without attempting to send it at all.

Find a vacant home and use that address. That works just as good. Take it to a different post office to mail it.
If they don't receive it, it will go to the dead letter file and you will not know if they receive it or not. If you drop it in a mailbox you can mail it without a return address but you won't know if they receive it or not.
    no u don't need to...
You actually dont need to put one, they'll still deliver it. Just put your name in the corner.
Don't address it, and if you need to, mail it from another town.
Yes, it's legal, but be careful, because if the letter is returned due to your family member moving, or just a mistake on behalf of the post office, it may be returned to someone else, and you may not want them to read it.
I don't think it's illegal to not put your address on a letter, I get them like that all the time. If you really don't want them to know where you are mail the letter from a different town so it will have a different post mark on it.
yes, but if the letter get's lost it will go to the addressee you provided
You do not have to include a return address on a letter, but if anything goes wrong in the delivery process, the letter will become dead in the postal service's dead letters. You must include one for UPS or any special delivery service.
    nope. its called mail fraud
no need to put one there
I think sendin a letter wid out your address isn't a big deal.. there isn't any harm in that... :)
what are you talking about .if you dont want them to know your address dont put anything on the envelope just their address.
i seriously doubt it. who would know it was false? anyway if they're dangerous dont put anyones on it. just make sure you gave sufficient postage so it wont have a problem being sent all the way through. also get a po box, its like 35 or 40 bucks for 6 months or dont put anything on the letter
